SEF ENDORSEMENT
Personal Vehicle Endorsements
Standard Endorsement Forms (SEF): used to add coverage, remove coverage or enforce special limits
3 Drive Government Automobiles:
o Used when insured also drives government vehicles & isn’t already insured
5 Permission to Rent or Lease: for long-term leases (30+ days)
o Rates vehicle as if owned by lessee (i.e. their driving history)
5a Permission to Rent or Lease:
o Same as 5, but for short term leases
6a Permission to Carry Passengers for Compensation:
o Removes exclusion from SPF 1
7 Separate Limits:
o Can specify limits for each driver
8a Property Damage Reimbursement:
o Insured reimburses insurer for at-fault accidents caused by the person named here
(used for high risk drivers)
9 Marine Use Excluded (Amphibious Vehicles): for vehicles used on water & land (i.e. ATV)
o Excludes coverage while vehicle is on water or being launched/landed
13c Comprehensive Cover – Deletion of Glass
o Restricts auto glass coverage to:
Fire/Lightning/Explosion
(Attempted) Theft
Windstorm/Hail
Earthquake
Riot
Falling/Landing of Aircraft/Parts
Flood
“Accident” involving conveyance transporting the automobile (i.e. sinking,
stranding, derailment, etc.)
13d Comprehensive Cover – Limited Glass: like 13c +
o Adds Vandalism coverage for all but front window & sunroof
13h Deletion of Hail Coverage
o Deletes hail damage coverage if vehicle has unrepaired hail damage
o If 2+ vehicles, exclusion only applies to the hail-damaged car
o Can add back after repairs made
16 Suspension of Coverage (AB only): for seasonal vehicles (i.e. motorbikes)
o Suspends Liability, Collision/Upset coverage while not in use
o If vehicle is off for 45 days, can get refund
17 Reinstatement of Coverage (AB only):
o Reverses 16 & charges extra premium for reinstating coverage
18 Replacement Cost Endorsement
o If vehicle suffers total loss w/ in 5 yrs of service, get replacement cost coverage
Replaces w/ new model of same spec & equipment (if unable: similar model)
o Must have Section C coverage to qualify
19 Limitation Amount: for high value vehicles
o Insurer will pay min(ACV, amount shown here)
19a Valued Automobile: for classic, antique or high-value cars
o Vehicle = insured for $$ shown here
20 Loss of Use:
o No waiting period for loss of use when Section C coverage is triggered
o Covers: replacement vehicle, taxi, public transport, etc. while car is being repaired
o Can choose: per day & maximum limit
23a Mortgage:
o Shows that lien holder has insurable interest in auto
Keeps them informed of changes/cancellations/lapses
They also get a copy of the policy
Adds mortgage protection
Protects mortgagee if the insured commits fraud, misrepresentation or
breach of policy conditions
27 Legal Liability for Damage to Non-Owned Automobiles: used w/ SEF 20
o Covers operation of non-owned vehicles
o Use when: renting/borrowing a car short-term (NOT a substitute vehicle)
28 Reduction of Coverage as Respects Operation by Named Person(s): usually used w/ SEF 8a
o Limits the liability coverage payable for Section A, B & C when vehicle operated by X
Usually reduces to the minimum limit = $200,000
28a Reduction of Coverage as Respects to Operation on Airport Property (AB only):
o Limits coverage when operating the vehicle in an “airport” (i.e. runway, airplane
operating/storage/maintenance area)
Usually reduces to $200,000
29 Additional Coverage as Respects Operations by Named Person(s):
o Extends coverage to someone without listing them on the policy
32 Recreational Vehicle: (i.e. ATV or dirt bike)
o Permits off-road use of recreational vehicles by unlicensed person ≤ 16 y/o
Public highway = where public is ordinarily permitted to use/park vehicles (see
Traffic Safety Act)
35 Emergency Service Expense:
o Insurer covers insured for emergency roadside expenses (i.e. towing)
o Small limit ($50)
37 Limitation of Automobile Sound and Electronic Communications Equipment ($1500)
o Limits coverage for (Attempted) Theft of after-market equipment to min[$1500 (or
whatever the policy states), ACV]
38 Increased Limit Sound and Electronic Communications Equipment (over $1500)
o Opposite of 37: pick a higher limit than $1500
39 Accident Rating Waiver: aka Accident Forgiveness
o Insurer doesn’t count at-fault accidents in the vehicle’s rating
o Lists the applicable cars
40 Fire and Theft Deductible:
o Excludes deductible for fire or theft of entire automobile (must list applicable vehicles)
43r & 43l Limited Waiver of Depreciation:
o Waives depreciation on new vehicles (24-30 months new) if insured = original owner
o Depreciation still applies to: tires, batteries, upgrades from repairing/replacing damaged
parts
o If total loss, insurer pays: min(purchase price, MSRP)

o 43l = for leased vehicles
44 Family Protection: “get as good as you give”
o Pays in excess of the at-fault driver’s insurance ≤ your 3rd party limit minus the at-fault

o Only partners, officers & employees are covered
Everyone else needs to buy their own insurance
91 Limitation to Operation of Automobiles by Named Persons:
o Limits coverage to operations by named person
92 Limitation to Hired Automobiles & Automobiles Operated Under Contract:
o Limits coverage to hired/contracted autos defined on policy
o Deletes coverage for partners, employees, officers, agents
93 Limitation to Automobiles Owned by Named Persons:
o Limits coverage to autos operated/owned/licensed by person/company named here
94 Legal Liability for Damage to Hired Automobiles:
o Gives hired/leased autos the same own damage coverage as non-owned for legal
liability (including those assumed by contract)
o Must be same type of auto
o Hired auto = those controlled by insured in business (can come with/without drivers)
I.E. rented or chartered
95 Limitation to Business Conducted at Specified Locations:
o Restricts coverage to particular location
96 Contractual Liability: covers voluntary/contract liability except those excluded here
97 Operations by Individual Named Insured:
o If someone doesn’t have SPF 1, extends coverage to operation of vehicle used for
business only by insured (if individual, NOT business)
98 Excluding Automobiles Personally Driven by Named Person: excludes all people listed here
99 Excluding Long-term Leased Vehicle:
o Limits coverage to vehicles rented in short-term (≤ 30 days)
